About Jaydip

From Gujarat to the Road

Jaydip Lakhankiya did not begin this journey as a public figure. He began it as a young man shaped by farming, travel, and a growing sense that climate change was no longer something to discuss only in theory.

Life before the walk

A mission built from lived experience

The route from Malta to India is public, but the deeper route began much earlier: in Gujarat, in farming life, in long travel across India, and in the decision to live the message instead of only explaining it.

01

Early Life

Jaydip was born in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, and grew up close to farming and nature. That closeness shaped how he understands vulnerability. When a livelihood depends on land, rain, heat, and timing, climate is not an abstract topic. It is survival.

02

Education and Direction Change

He originally pursued chartered accountancy, but eventually realized his path was elsewhere. He moved toward tourism and travel management, drawn more to people, places, movement, and real-world experience than conventional career paths.

03

India Journey

During the pandemic, Jaydip stepped away from theory and into reality. He walked and hitchhiked across India for 182 days with almost no money. That journey changed how he saw the country, its villages, its people, and the gap between comfortable conversation and lived struggle.

04

Building Skills

He went on to train as a trekking instructor, guide large groups, work with NGOs, become a certified kayaking instructor, and continue building field experience through outdoor and leadership work.

05

Europe and Climate Realization

Later, while studying in Europe and participating in youth and environmental initiatives, Jaydip deepened his understanding of climate change. What he learned confirmed something he already felt: the first people to suffer are often the people with the least protection.

06

Why Walking

Jaydip believes what Gandhi demonstrated through action: walking can create change. When you walk, you do not pass through people. You meet them. You stop. You speak. You listen. You make the journey visible. For Jaydip, walking is not only transportation. It is method, message, and discipline.

07

What Comes After India

This mission does not end at the border. Jaydip's long-term vision includes building cleanup and education work, especially through a future organization focused on environmental action and public awareness.

The story continues daily

Follow the road, not just the idea.
